SASSA Old Age Grant Eligibility: Who is Eligible for Old Age Grant and How to Get It
Getting old can be challenging, especially if you don’t have financial support or retirement plans in place. The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) provides an Old Age Grant to help older individuals who are struggling financially. In this article, we will discuss the eligibility criteria for the Old Age Grant and how to apply for it.
What is SASSA Old Age Grant?
The SASSA Old Age Grant is a social security grant provided by the South African government to individuals who are 60 years of age or older and facing financial difficulties. This grant aims to support older people during their retirement years.

- Be experiencing financial difficulties
In addition to these criteria, you will need to undergo a means test to determine your eligibility. If you have a regular income from investments, rentals, or a private pension that exceeds a specific level, or if your assets exceed a particular threshold, you may not be eligible for the grant.
